Her new album will include cover versions of classic songs from the 1930s and 1940s and will be released on 24 October under the title Nostalgia...One of the most successful singers of the last few decades, who also made her name in the legendary duo Eurythmics, last reminded her fans of the album A Christmas Cornucopia, on which she covered the most beautiful Christmas and winter songs. This time around, the soon-to-be 60-year-old diva took an even bigger bite and decided to pay homage to the icons of the first half of the last century. The album Nostalgia contains the best songs from the Great American Songbook, i.e. really the greatest classics... Annie pays tribute to such icons as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Jo Stafford or Louis Armstrong and yet the whole idea came about by accident. "I was studying recordings and video footage of songs from the Great American Songbook, especially their blues roots. I was thinking about what my voice would sound like in them. The twelve tracks include new interpretations of such legendary songs as Summertime by the unforgettable George Gershwin, God Bless The Child by the stunning Billie Holiday, Moon Indigo by Duke Ellington and I Put A Spell On You originally by Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
