British guitarist, singer and songwriter Eric Clapton is releasing his first Christmas album, Happy Xmas, on October 12. It is his 24th studio album, coming two years after the release of I Still Do. Happy Xmas mixes well-known Christmas classics with lesser-known ones, complete with new songs from Clapton's pen, such as For Love On Christmas Day. "I thought the Christmas songs could be recorded with a slight blues touch. So I started thinking about how to incorporate blues lines between the vocals," Clapton explains. "I was able to do it best with Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, which defined the basic style."
