The album is energetic, aggressive, instrumentally precise and its political lyrics have been praised by critics outside the metal scene.In addition to being remastered to the highest possible quality, the album will be supplemented with previously unreleased material including demos, rough mixes, videos of live performances, interviews, unpublished photographs, an extensive booklet, manuscript lyrics and footage from the last concert of bassist Cliff Burton, who died in a car accident just as the Master of Puppets tour was underway.Master of Puppets, the album that established the American thrash metal scene, was originally released in 1986 and became Metallica's first platinum album - six times in the US.
