The series of highly successful performances by the 3T - Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, accompanied by the orchestras of Florence and Rome under the direction of Zubito Mehta - was kicked off by this very concert in Rome's Caracalla Baths in 1990. As all three singers are also passionate football fans, it could never have been held except on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup Final.Thanks to the huge success of the CDs and DVDs that immediately followed, the concert became the most successful classical music event in history.
