It's great to see Bobby Kimball back in the lineup after 17 years. The poignancy and passion in his singing set him apart from the singers who were in the band after Toto IV. Kimball is joined by guitarist Steve Lukather, keyboardists David Paich and Steve Porcaro, bassist Mike Porcaro and Simon Phillips on drums. Most of the songs on "Mindfields" are over 5 minutes long and range across genres from pop-rock to world music, jazz-fusion to blues-rock. "Mindfields" is an album full of the instrumental and vocal virtuosity that took the band Toto from the youthful path of 1980s music videos to the highway of adult arena rock today.
