Experience album Surprise: U2 are back and are releasing a new album "Songs Of Experience" at the end of 2017. This is the fourteenth studio release from Bono, The Edge and co. The Irish band follows up their 2014 predecessor "Songs Of Innocence" with this album. Both titles are taken from the collection of poems "Songs Of Innocence And Experience" by English poet William Blake. They revealed what the new album will sound like ahead of time with the first single "You're The Best Thing About Me". They also performed the song "The Little Things That Give You Away" on Jimmy Kimmel's late night show. Both songs show: in 2017, U2 are as versatile as ever, tackling social, political and personal issues. U2 had most of the songs for "Songs Of Experience" ready last year. However, following Brexit and the election of US President Donald Trump, they have reworked the content of some of the songs to respond to major political changes. And to give the whole thing the right sonic framework, the band once again worked with some absolutely top producers: behind the controls sat Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Danger Mouse, Jacknife Lee and Steve Lilywhite, among others. In addition to the standard CD, the new album is also available as a deluxe CD with four bonus tracks. The corresponding track list can be found below. Vinyl fans will be in for a treat with a double LP on sky blue vinyl. The absolute highlight for all fans is the numbered limited deluxe box set. In addition to the blue double LP and CD, it includes other special extras. Of course only while stocks last. The title says it all: "Songs Of Experience" is an experience both musically and in terms of content. An absolute rock highlight of late 2017.
