The Los Angeles Philharmonic was founded 100 years ago, an orchestra that has always managed to combine musical excellence with a special selection of programs. In celebration of its 100th anniversary, this anniversary edition presents the musical legacy of this unique orchestra on a total of 32 CDs and 3 DVDs. The edition includes a number of recordings by the orchestra's formative music directors, from Otto Klemperer to Carlo Maria Giulini, Zubin Mehta and Esa-Pekka Salonen to the current chief conductor Gustavo Dudamel. In addition, a special audiophile edition offers on 2 CDs previously unreleased historic live recordings by Eduard van Beinum, Igor Stravinsky, Eugene Goossens, soloist Arthur Rubinstein, and the only recording of Leonard Bernstein with the orchestra on DG. The limited edition is accompanied by a 120-page booklet with articles on the LA Phil's 100-year history, detailing both the orchestra's history and its recording activities. The booklet also includes a foreword by Gustavo Dudamel and exclusive image material from the LA Phil archives.
