It contains 14 songs, 9 of which are brand new. The long-awaited successor to "To All The Girls..." is the first album to feature mostly new song material from the singer-songwriter in nearly 20 years since 1996's "Spirit". Willie Nelson, who as an influential songwriter combined his early successes with pop and country to create memorable standards like "Crazy" (for Patsy Cline), "Hello Walls" (for Faron Young), "Funny How Time Slips Away" (for Billy Walker), "Night Life" (for Ray Price) and many more, was able to add nine new songs to his life's work. The songs on "Band Of Brothers" range from the introspective "The Wall" and "Send Me A Picture" to the rambunctious, almost exuberant "Wives and Girlfriends" and "Used To Her," making it one of the artist's most personal albums. Five wonderful interpretations round out this long player. These complement and unify the sonic structure and thematic content, including songs by Vince Gill, Billie Joe Shaver and Bill Anderson, among others. No one told Willie Nelson to slow down when he turned 80, or even before. And that's exactly what he's not doing. On the contrary, the eighty-one-year-old man has been remarkably productive in recent years.
