George Benson is a renowned American guitarist, singer, and songwriter, whose career spans several decades with a diverse range of styles including jazz, pop, R&B, and funk. Born on March 22, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Benson began his professional career at a young age as a jazz guitarist. He gained recognition for his virtuosic guitar playing and later for his smooth vocal style. In the 1960s, he recorded for several labels including Prestige and Columbia, but it was his signing with CTI Records in the early 1970s that led to a series of successful albums that blended jazz with more mainstream sounds.
