Portuguese Soprano Singer
Portuguese soprano Carla Caramujo is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a winner of the Luísa Todi National Singing Competition, the Musikförderpreis der Hans-Sachs-Loge, Chevron Excellence, Ye Cronies and Dewar Awards. She made her debut as Gilda in Rigoletto at the TNSC where she subsequently performed as Contessa Folleville (Viaggio a Reims), Clorinda (Cenerentola), D. Anna (D.Giovanni), Adele (Fledermaus), Lisette (Rondine) and Princesse (L'Enfant et les Sortilèges). Other roles and concert repertoire include Violetta (Traviata), Adina (L'elisir d'amore), Armida (Rinaldo), Königin (Zauberflöte), Herz (Schauspieldirektor), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), Valetto (L'Incoronazione di Poppea), Beethoven 9th Symphony, Mozart C minor Mass, Carmina Burana, Die Schöpfung, Messiah, Bach’s Passion According to St. John/Matthew, Brahm’s Requiem, Strauss’ Lieder der Ophelie, in the UK, Uruguay, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina and Portugal. Her interest in contemporary repertoire led her to perform Salomé in the première of O Sonho by Pedro Amaral with London Sinfonietta, La Princesse at Philip Glass's Orphée in Rio de Janeiro, Controller in Jonathon Dove's Flight in Glasgow and Soprano in Peter Eötvös Lady Sarashina in Lisbon. In works by João Guilherme Ripper, she played Iara in Onheama (Terras Sem Sombra Festival), Five Poems of Vinicius de Moraes, Domitila and the première of Icamiabas at the Pará International Music Festival.
