Gleaming Spires

80s New Wave Pop Duo

Gleaming Spires was a new wave band that emerged in the early 1980s. The group was formed by Leslie Bohem and David Kendrick after they met while playing for the avant-garde group, Sparks. Gleaming Spires is perhaps best known for their song "Are You Ready for the Sex Girls?" which gained popularity after being featured on the soundtrack of the 1984 film "Revenge of the Nerds." Although they never achieved major commercial success, Gleaming Spires developed a cult following thanks to their quirky lyrics and synth-driven sound. Their discography includes several albums, with "Songs of the Spires" being their debut release in 1981. David Kendrick later joined Devo and continued his career with them, while Leslie Bohem became a successful screenwriter. Gleaming Spires' influence can be seen in the work of other new wave and indie bands that followed.
