Gloom Core trio Johnny The Boy formed around a creative core of vocalist Belinda Kordic, guitarist Justin Greaves (both core members of Crippled Black Phoenix) and bassist Matt Crawford (CBP alumnus and live bassist). Johnny The Boy began life as an instinctive grab for something darker and nastier. Originally this band was named “World War”. Their music remains the same as a primal black noise rock hybrid with banshee vocals that carries on to JTB (Johnny The Boy). Sometimes the best ideas come from spontaneity. Sometimes they come from gut instinct. When both happen simultaneously, anything is possible, unimaginable horrors included. Born from a simple idea, and eventually coalescing over the last couple of years into a fully-formed entity, Johnny The Boy make music that fucking hurts. Armed with a scabrous but sculpted blend of ice-cold black metal, excoriating sludge and sinewy, white-knuckle rock’n’roll, the trio’s musical identity has arrived, perfectly imperfect and ready to eviscerate. Musically, Johnny The Boy consist of Bathory style elements, some Tragedy style crust, a touch of ‘Satyricon BlacknRoll’ and a bit of fast Motörhead. All with Belinda Kordic’s vicious black metal style vocals, diabolical black metal screams, and mixed with some howls and haunts full of togetherness with Justin Greaves and Matt Crawford, the band created an album that sparked the interest from Michael. Music label Season Of Mist posted on March 14, 2022 announcing the signing of (Johnny The Boy), the menacing arm of creepy music deemed too heavy for the mother band Crippled Black Phoenix! JTB debut album ’You’ release date was June 9, 2023 via Season Of Mist. Season Of Mist CEO Michael Berberian comments on the signing: “When we received the new Crippled Black Phoenix album, I loved the bonus track “No Regrets” but it sounded totally different, not CBP at all.“ The first time this bonus track “No Regrets” was only released on media format as a Digibox Collector's edition in deluxe black clamshell box (with gold foil) holding: 'Banefyre' on 2 CDs with bonus track "No Regrets" in 6-panel deluxe Digipak. Strictly limited to 2500 copies worldwide! Johnny The Boy comments: “The constant and endless abuse of the natural world and our environment results in the horrific doom and gloom that comes with it.
