Italian-American Opera Conductor

Nicola Rescigno (1916–2008) was an Italian-American conductor who played a significant role in the world of opera during the 20th century. He was a co-founder of both the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Dallas Opera, and his career was marked by his dedication to promoting Italian opera and nurturing the talents of emerging singers. Rescigno was known for his deep understanding of the bel canto repertoire and worked with some of the most renowned opera singers of his time, including Maria Callas, with whom he had a close artistic partnership.
