Overcast is a metalcore band that originated from Massachusetts, United States. They were active in the 1990s and are often recognized as one of the pioneering bands in the metalcore genre, which blends elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. The band's lineup included Brian Fair, who later became the lead vocalist for Shadows Fall, and Mike D'Antonio, who went on to co-found Killswitch Engage. Overcast disbanded in 1998 but had a brief reunion in 2006 and again in 2011. Their influence on the metalcore scene has been noted by many modern bands within the genre, and their aggressive style has earned them a place in the history of heavy music. Despite not achieving mainstream success, Overcast has maintained a cult following over the years.
