ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM, LONG LIVE THE ANGELS OUT NOV. 11

Long Live The Angels is a fascinating journey through the triumphs and tragedies of the last four years of an extraordinary life Emeli Sandé. It is joyful in its execution and daring in its intent. This album is filled with a boundless sense of freedom and a search for self.

The new single'Hurts' was born out of this sense of freedom, it's an uplifting track overflowing with warmth of heart and soul. "This whole album is about me - I don't want to hold back or censor myself. And 'Hurts' is an explosion, it's just... such a message from the heart," Sandé explains.

A lot has happened in Sandé's life over the past four years, from the huge success of her critically acclaimed #1 album Our Version Of Events. Not only was it the best-selling album of 2012 in the UK and the second best-selling album of 2013, it also went 7x platinum, stayed at the top of the album chart for seven consecutive weeks and broke The Beatles' record by being in the top 10 for 63 consecutive weeks with sales of over 4,600,000 units worldwide. The Aberdeen native's three singles reached number one in the UK singles chart, including 'Next to Me', which went platinum in the US with over 1.5 million singles sold. Sandé has also won numerous awards - three Brit Awards (Critics Choice, Best Album, Female Solo) as well as awards from Q Magazine, Elle, Harpers and GQ. The Scottish multi-instrumentalist initially made her mark on audiences as a songwriter in the UK "urban" scene through artists such as Wiley, Wretch 32 and Chip, and was later a sought-after songwriter for many international artists including Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Katy Perry.

By the end of 2013, Sandé was completely exhausted, unable to ignore the stress that was dominating her relationships. "It sounds a bit dramatic, but I just wanted to disappear. I was overwhelmed by the feeling and the knowledge that I had to stop," Sandé confides , "So I slowly did."

The new album was recorded in New York, Los Angeles, London and Oxford, and will be available for purchase in a standard CD version (15 tracks) and a Deluxe version (18 tracks). Long Live the Angels is packed with energy and a sense of euphoria for both the singer and the listener. Some of the songs may be slower in tempo, but dynamic in execution. "I was careful not to overproduce the songs," Sandé emphasizes. "And I took great care with the singing!" Sandé's beautiful voice stands straddling the heart of the record, a masterful display of technique and form, but also of her natural vocal instincts.

The opening track'Selah', a short poem written by Sandé in a time of reflection and accompanied by a chorale evokes the atmosphere, it's a powerful and moving introduction to the album. The sensational'Breathing Underwater' follows, which Sandé describes as "the ultimate journey of rebirth and self-discovery." The musically spare'Give Me Something' is a song about destiny and faith despite obstacles, and the beautifully melodic 'Shakes' is a masterpiece accompanied by piano and strings.

'Garden' reaches back to Sandé's urban roots and was written and produced in London with Jay Electronica, who also makes a guest appearance on the track. It's a reminder that Emeli is influenced by R&B and rap in addition to songwriting.'Lonely' is a long and direct look at love that seems to have been written on a sunny afternoon in the sixties. 'Sweet Architect' (Johnny Coffer and Mojam) is spiced up with a remarkable chorus.

Closing Long Live the Angels sees Sandé hoping for new possibilities -'Every Single Little Piece' is a compelling ballad with a beautiful chorus and strings, the uplifting'Highs & Lows' is dedicated to a family, its past and its heritage.

Long Live The Angels opens a new chapter in Sandé's life. "I'm proud of my first album and grateful for the experiences it brought me. But I'm much happier with the second album and where I am in my life now."
