Eric Clapton is still going strong There has never been any doubt that Eric Clapton is still going strong. Only last year, Mr. Slowhand celebrated his 70th birthday with several concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall. Yet in 2016 he seems to feel the need to stress that he is still going strong. His new album is called "I Still Do". It is the blues guitarist and singer's 23rd studio album. The album "I Still Do" saw the reunion with an old and valued friend and colleague: producer Glyn Johns was already behind the mixing desk for the successful albums "Slowhand" (1977) and "Backless" (1978). The sound engineer has also worked for the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Who. The new album features a total of twelve songs - seven Clapton originals and five cover versions, including Bob Dylan's "I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine" and JJ Cale's "Somebody's Knockin' On My Door". The first taste of the album is available March 25 in the form of the pre-series single "Can't Let You Do It." Clapton is backed by a number of musicians on "I Still Do", including Paul Carrack on Hammond organ, Chris Stainton on keyboards and Andy Fairweather Low on guitar. In addition, there have been many rumors and speculations about another guest contribution in the pipeline. Angelo Mysterioso is the name of the artist who contributed to the song "I Will Be There". The stranger's vocals and acoustic guitar can be heard. It turns out to be the late former Beatle George Harrison, who used this pseudonym during his lifetime. The artwork for "I Still Do" was also done by an old friend, Sir Peter Thomas Blake. The artist had already designed the cover of Clapton's live album "24 Nights" (1991). He also contributed to the design of the classic Beatles album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". In addition to the standard CD, "I Still Do" is available as a limited edition double LP (180 g/45 RPM). For true Clapton fans, a Deluxe Edition is also available. The box set includes the new album on CD, ten Polaroid-style behind-the-scenes photos from the making of the album and a specially made USB flash drive in the look of a vacuum tube. It contains high-resolution WAV files of twelve songs from the album and two bonus tracks, "Lonesome" and "Freight Train". There's also a 45-minute special featuring interviews with Eric Clapton, Glyn Johns and Paul Whitehouse, behind-the-scenes videos from the recording sessions and clips from various live performances. Last but not least, you'll find the album artwork, lyric video for "Can't Let You Do It" and the music video for "Spiral". In the song "I Still Do", Eric Clapton makes one thing clear: he's still doing it - still making music, still with the same people, but above all still with the same passion and virtuosity.
