Formed in the late 1970s new wave scene that followed the punk explosion, The Police quickly stood out from the crowd, largely due to the fusion of reggae and punk that permeated their music. Add to that an exceptional songwriting talent and a level of performance that far surpasses other bands on the scene, and you have a band for the ages. Both drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers had a long history on the English music scene as members of "old wave" bands such as Curved Air (Copeland), Dantalian's Chariot and Eric Burdon & The Animals (Summers), and it paid off in the unstoppable performance of Copeland (who has since developed his own style) and the clever work of Summers, which, along with Sting's unmistakable voice, made for a unique band. A band that has influenced countless other bands. In The Many Faces Of The Police, we explore the band's various journeys, their lesser known projects, pay tribute to their songs and learn more about the scene from which The Police emerged. It also focuses on French guitarist Henry Padovani as one of the founding members of the band, who found success as a member of The Electric Chairs after being kicked out of the band. This punk band was initially more popular than The Police, and therefore The Electric Chairs opened for them many times.
