Dual-band loudspeaker system developed in collaboration with Novague design studio and awarded Product of the Year by STEREO & VIDEO magazine

AQ Wega 73 has been awarded Stereo & Video magazine's Product of the Year 2016-2017.

The AQ Wega 73 loudspeaker was created in collaboration between Novague design studio and AQ development centre. The initial idea was: let's forget what has been done before and start all over again. The work took longer than the team members imagined at the beginning. All the development staff first had to learn to take in the arguments of others and break the established rules.

The result in the form of the AQ Wega 73 definitely deserved the time and effort.The elegant, slim two-way speaker with bassreflex sound system respects and exploits acoustic principles. The result particularly stands out in the combination of natural veneer and black base. The design is perfectly clean, with no screws or distracting elements on the front. The mass is followed by clean transitions and smooth lines. Thanks to the trapezoid-shaped design of the soundboard and the attached base, there are fewer parallel reflective surfaces inside the loudspeaker, significantly reducing standing waves inside the soundboard.

At the bottom, the loudspeaker is equipped with a trio of adjustable spikes. It is therefore easy to accurately position the speaker on any floor surface. The trio of contact points eliminates the transmission of vibrations between the loudspeaker and its surroundings. To protect vulnerable floors, protective trays under the spikes are also supplied with the loudspeaker.

A pair of six-inchmid-bass drivers with a laminated paper diaphragm with load-bearing fibers are seamlessly built into the soundboard. The unwanted diffraction edge has been eliminated with a metal piece. This tandem is capable of faithfully reproducing the lowest bass frequencies as well as the midrange of the human voice.

Vifa tweeter with a 25 mm air coil in a magnetic field consisting of a neodymium magnet. The linear motor is housed in a closed chamber that extends the range to lower frequencies. The toroidal-shaped diaphragm is complemented by a directional cone in the centre.

Theelectronic switch inside the speaker is located on a panel with solder points.The turnout is second order and all components used are carefully selected and matched.The internal wiring is done with D2D technology and no faston connections are used inside the speaker. The connection terminal is screw terminal.

Sonically, the AQ Wega 73 will please all lovers of natural music, its presentation is very balanced and accurate, it handles even dynamic passages brilliantly. A good loudspeaker can play equally well loud and quiet, and this is what the developers have managed to achieve with the elegant AQ Wega 73.
