Alcatrazz

80s American heavy metal band

Alcatrazz is an American heavy metal band formed in 1983 by vocalist Graham Bonnet, who had previously been a member of Rainbow and the Michael Schenker Group. The band's initial lineup also included guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, who was later replaced by Steve Vai for the recording of their second album, "Disturbing the Peace," released in 1985. Alcatrazz is known for their melodic approach to heavy metal and has been influential in the neoclassical metal genre. Throughout their career, they have experienced several lineup changes and periods of inactivity. After disbanding in the late 1980s, Alcatrazz reunited in the 2000s and again in 2017. They released "Born Innocent" in 2020, which marked their first studio album in over 30 years. The band's fifth studio album, simply titled "V," was released in 2021. Alcatrazz has maintained a dedicated fan base over the years and is recognized for contributing to the careers of prominent guitarists like Malmsteen and Vai.
